Brian Kopp is the founder of Stretch 4 Advisory and provides strategic business services to a wide range of sports technology, data and analytics companies. Through Stretch 4, Brian serves as Acting General Manager of InSite Analytics for Riddell, the world’s leading football helmet manufacturer. InSite Analytics is a groundbreaking in-helmet technology and reporting service that provides impact data analysis to improve athletic performance and advance player protection. In addition, Brian is Head of Partnerships for P3, the leading provider of motion capture assessments and training for elite athletes. He also provides advisory services to Wilson Sporting Goods on instrumented football and basketball projects and serves as Board Advisor for FastModel Sports, a leader in basketball coaching solutions.
Brian is also Partner at Ryan Sports Ventures, the sports investment arm of the Chicago-based Ryan family. For over thirty years, the Ryan family has built a broad sports portfolio including interests in the Chicago Bears, Penske Corporation, and several leading sports technology funds. Ryan Sports was formed to expand the family’s investments in sports technologies, properties, and media.
Brian was previously Partner and Group CEO of Phoenix Sports Partners, a sports investment and operating company. Before his role at Phoenix, Brian served as President of North America for Catapult Sports, a global provider of sports analytics and performance products. Prior to Catapult, Brian served as Senior Vice President of Sports Solutions for STATS LLC. At STATS, Brian was responsible for the revolutionary SportVU player tracking technology as well as building innovative analytics solutions for NBA, NFL and NCAA teams. As a result of his work, Brian received numerous industry awards including 2022 SBJ Power Player in Sports Technology, 2016 SBJ Forty Under 40 class, and 2013 Idea Innovator by Sports Business Journal. During his tenure, both Catapult and STATS were named to the World’s Most Innovative Companies list by Fast Company.
Prior to his career in sports business, Brian worked in investment banking and private equity before transitioning into a variety of corporate strategy and M&A roles. Brian received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his BA in Economics from Wabash College, where he played varsity basketball. Brian resides in Barrington Hills, Illinois, with his wife Rita and their 5 children.
